Purpose: Use this job aid to learn about labeling requirements exclusions.
In addition to pipes and portable containers, the following substances are excluded from the labeling requirement:
- pesticides that are labeled according to EPA requirements
- substances labeled under the Food and Drug Administration
- alcohol beverages labeled under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms
- consumer products labeled under the Consumer Product Safety Commission
- hazardous waste as defined by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
- hazardous substances as defined by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act
- wood or wood products, including lumber that will not be processed, but excluding wood dust
- ionizing and nonionizing radiation
- biological hazards covered under the Bloodborne Pathogens standard
